We have enjoyed exploring the natural world with our growing families and we share a passion for encouraging more families to discover the joys of wild places. We believe in reconnecting children with the nature through free play and exploration. We bring together Jo’s background in educational psychology and photography, Fiona’s knowledge of environmental education and natural history, and our shared outdoor experiences with our children and now our grandchildren.
We aim to spread the word to as wide an audience as possible, primarily through our series of fully illustrated Going Wild books packed with an incredible variety of fun activities to do anywhere and anytime. Many of our books are also available as e-books, so you can take them outside with you in your pocket.
Our latest books, Make This Book Wild (published 2022) and Make Every Week Wild (to be published January 2026), are designed to be transformed into amazing wild creative keepsakes.
We aim to spread the word to as wide an audience as possible; we encourage everyone to share their ideas and experiences via our Facebook and Instagram pages, so others can benefit. Apart from writing and promoting our books we also write articles for a range of national and international press, journals and magazines, as well as giving talks and running training events and workshops for Wildlife Trusts, educators, parents, schools, libraries and those working in the environment.
We have worked in partnership with many organisations, including Natural England, the Wildlife Trusts and others. Our work with Natural England included work for the Scouts and the “Big Wildlife Garden” websites. We have worked closely with the Forest School Association and the National Trust to inspire more children and families to go outside and enjoy being outdoors together. We have also worked with partners to create two wild playgrounds in Oxford.
